Enjoy the Spartanburg County Public Library

The Spartanburg County Public Library wants to help you discover new books, engage with other library patrons and stay entertained for free. Three ways to stay connected with the Spartanburg County Public Library while staying home in our Spartanburg apartments include:

The Booklover’s Book Club & Podcast

Booklovers has been a popular monthly book club at SCPL’s main branch for almost 20 years. The group discusses everything from classics and genre fiction to recently-published graphic novels. You can be part of this lively conversation on the first Tuesday of every month via the Zoom platform.

To enjoy another fun dimension of this book club, check out the accompanying Booklover’s Podcast. The hosts are three library employees who discuss the club’s monthly selection as well as other interesting books that fit the moment.

Free Entertainment To Stream And Download

Your SCPL library card provides virtual access to a vast media library with everything from award-winning films to popular magazines. Just download the apps you’re interested in and log in with your library username. Cinephiles will enjoy Kanopy, a unique streaming service that curates rare, foreign, and independent films. Another popular option is the Overdrive app, which has thousands of eBooks and audiobooks in every genre.

Socrates Cafe Online

The motto at this philosophy club is “The unexamined life is not worth living”, a quote by Socrates. Socrates Cafe Online meets on Zoom every month to discuss a meaningful question, just like the famous philosopher himself. This insightful conversation is hosted by Dr. Christine Dinkins, who is a distinguished Wofford Socrates scholar.

If you’re looking for more than just the Spartanburg library to enjoy, there are so many enriching cultural opportunities nearby, including great resources for learning local history. You can learn much more about living at Reserve at Park West by contacting us.
